Gaming for Good: Charity Gaming Marathon Success
A version of this story was also published on the Grantham Journal’s website.
On April 7th, some of the Khaos Family set out on a gruelling mission, sacrificing their minds, bodies, sanity and (most importantly) sleep, to raise money for charity.
Over 96 hours, colleagues here at Khaos Control HQ took it in turns to battle it out, tirelessly working their way through different versions of the classic action packed game, Tomb Raider.
While the aim was to raise around £200 for Direct Relief, the guys smashed their target and managed to round up an impressive £664! The biggest donation was an awesome £80 and the average a generous £17.
And that isn’t all… for 96 hours they become worldwide celebs as they streamed the action live from our boardroom – which was converted into a gaming den for the weekend. With over 2,000 people from all around the world offering their comments and donations (thank you!) and sacrificing their sleep to stay up and help.
Matt Hadden, Event Organiser and one of our web developers, was very impressed with the amount of support they managed to drum up.
He said: “We built up an amazing community. There were people staying up until 6-7am with us on our chatroom, helping us get past puzzles.
“I think they were more devastated that the event was over than we were!
“We just want to say a massive thank you to everyone that helped – your support will make a real difference.”
